Peace Comes with a Lot of Goodbyes: Achieving Peace of Mind
I hope these weekly readings are providing valuable lessons for your life. Please share your feedback, critiques, and suggestions for improvement with me.
Understanding Peace of Mind
Peace of mind is one of the greatest assets you can possess. After decades of living, I’ve concluded that one of the most important things to guard is your peace. The condition of your mind significantly impacts your productivity and overall well-being.
The Power of Saying Goodbye
A few weeks ago, I encountered a statement that deeply resonated with me: “Peace comes from saying a lot of goodbyes.” Reflecting on this, I realized its profound truth. To achieve true peace, sometimes we need to let go of certain things.
Letting Go for True Peace
Read:The Power of Persistent Consistence
In our pursuit of goals, we often carry overwhelming burdens. Good intentions can lead to confusion and frustration. To truly find peace, it’s essential to say goodbye to many things that hinder our progress.
Identifying What to Let Go
Not everything we desire or engage in will advance our goals or bring peace. Some things may seem appealing but are ultimately unprofitable. Peace requires saying goodbye to these unproductive activities and relationships.
Personal and Practical Examples
For example, a young person involved in promiscuity will not find peace. To gain peace, they must say goodbye to such behaviors.
As a minister and businessman, I once entered many ventures without counting the costs. This brought immense hardship and affected my peace and productivity. Eventually, I had to stop the business to find other ways to repay my debts. Saying goodbye to that business brought me peace, though financial obligations remain.
Steps to Attain Peace
To find peace, identify and eliminate the hindrances in your life. For peace with God, avoid sin and anything that leads to it. For peace with others, be mindful of actions and relationships, sometimes saying goodbye to toxic influences.
Conclusion: Embracing Peace
The need for peace cannot be overemphasized. Only those willing to say goodbye to certain things will achieve true peace.
