At every stage of life, principles matter. As we journey through life, it is the obedience to fixed laws set by God Himself that will guarantee how well you maneuver the vicissitudes of life.

I have also discovered that you need personal philosophies based on biblical intelligence just to serve as a guide for you. What does this mean? It means the philosophy may not be taken directly from the bible, but at the same time, it has no antagonism to the Bible.

Based on what you are going through, there is a need to always prep yourself against situations and circumstances that will make you unproductive and fail in the pursuit of your goals and ambitions.

I was teaching at the CDM BIBLE COLLEGE when this phrase jumped at me. It is either not TIME or it’s not MINE.

The topic I was treating was impure thoughts as it relates to Lust. I quickly noted it down and promised my students that I was going to write an article on it.

Temptations abound all over us. Both for the married and the unmarried. Everywhere you pass these days, you don’t need to look far to know that sexual appeals are everywhere. From the streets to the movie centres to the market: sexual appeals are everywhere. These days, you don’t need to look far to be tempted.

Thanks be to God that temptations are not sin in themselves. Temptations can be likened to birds flying over your head. It is when you now decide to act on the temptation that it becomes sin for you. When you allow the bird to perch on your head that it becomes a problem.

Where am I going with this as it relates to our title?

This is my explanation, and I want you to listen carefully. Depending on your marital status, there are things you can either not temper with because it is not yours, and there are things you cannot temper with because it is not time.

As a single young man or lady, this should be your philosophy if you want to enjoy good years filled with less regrets: when sexual temptations knock at your door your attitude towards them should be, IT IS NOT TIME. Now I know that as human beings, we are good at quotes and recitations, but if the reality dawns, we throw quotes out of the window. But you see, forming an attitude is not a one day thing. You have to deliberately do it over and over again.

As a married person, I am sure you know by now that temptations don’t respect marital status. I have this advice for you. When temptations knock at your door, your attitude should be, IT IS NOT MINE. I know these things sound simple, but remember, the whole world was framed by words from God. Words created the universe we live in today. Don’t joke with words, particularly if they are spirit birthed.

When a young lady’s look is biting you, when a young man’s smile is smiting you, when a beautiful look is staring at you, whether intentionally or unintentionally, listen to me carefully. ‘It is either not Time or it is not Mine’.

Some people who think more highly of themselves have fallen flat to sexual appeals. Some mighty men keep on falling into holes dug by sexual temptations sometimes not because they don’t know that it is wrong but because they don’t have BOUNDARIES that guard their life and conscience.

What I am suggesting to you today, if prayerfully applied, can be a blessing to you. In fact, it doesn’t only apply to matters of Sexual temptations. Every aspect of life can have this principle. ‘It is either not MINE or it is not TIME.
